https://journal.formosapublisher.org/index.php/ajns/article/view/14156

Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) possession among youths in North-West Nigeria exacerbates violence and crime. This study assessed the effectiveness of civic education in reducing illegal weapon possession among secondary school students. Using a survey of 500 students from Kano, Kaduna, and Sokoto, findings showed moderate success in promoting peace but limited impact on changing attitudes and conflict resolution. Civic education lacked practical strategies against gang influence. Integrating AI could enhance learning and evaluation. The study recommends curriculum improvements, community collaboration, and teacher training to strengthen civic education’s role in addressing youth violence.
Uthman Shehu LawalZohaib Hassan SainIbrahim Maimunat AdokeMunirat Binta AbdullahiShahzadi Hina Sain

https://journal.formosapublisher.org/index.php/ajns/article/view/14218

While urbanization and industrialization have a significant impact on the environment and contribute to climate change, the specific effects of these processes are often inconclusive and context-dependent, warranting further investigation. This research delves into advanced econometric techniques, including regression analyses utilizing time series data, to explore the root causes of the climate crisis. It specifically examines how rapid urbanization and industrialization exacerbate climate change—and vice versa—in Kenya. The findings indicate that urbanization and industrialization have statistically significant positive effects on climate change in the region. Estimates suggest that activities related to urban growth and industrialization are major contributors to rising temperatures and climate-related consequences. To mitigate the impact of the industrial and urban sectors on climate change, recommended strategies include transitioning to renewable energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting effective urban planning, and investing in green technologies and policies.
Naftaly MoseJoseph Ngigi Kinuthia

https://journal.formosapublisher.org/index.php/ajns/article/view/14216

Solving algebraic tasks can be a daunting experience for pupils, and this may lead to more reasoning flaws when the problems are presented in both words and numbers. This study explored the types of flaws evident in the reasoning patterns of Ghanaian junior high school pupils when solving algebraic word problems. The qualitative case study design involving 25 pupils was used. These pupils were purposively sampled to complete a teacher-made algebra test. The test data were analyzed thematically. Based on their written responses, it was found that the pupils’ reasoning in solving algebraic word problems was flawed by seven different categories of errors. These errors included confusion between constants and variables, multiplication and exponents, equations and inequalities, sharing and subtraction, miscalculations, and the incorrect use of algebraic rules. The findings suggest that pupils’ flaws stem from a lack of both conceptual and procedural fluency. The findings suggest that pupils’ flaws stem from a lack of both conceptual and procedural fluency. Therefore, mathematics teachers should use more word problem tasks in their class exercises and homework.
Joseph BaidooKingsford Bondzie
