Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the level of understanding of Theology students (Strata 1) at STT Renatus North Sumatra regarding Pastoral Counseling for Marriage and to describe the things that need to be considered by Theology students who will be prepared to become Pastors in maintaining the marriage of church congregations. This study is qualitative method. Data were obtained through questionnaires and literature studies. The results of the analysis of the understanding of 30 Theology students regarding Pastoral Counseling for Marriage showed a fairly positive picture but with several areas that needed attention. In general, 60% of students had a good understanding, while 30% were sufficient and 10% were still lacking. The aspects of the definition and purpose of Pastoral Counseling for Marriage were well understood by the majority of students (80%), indicating a strong theoretical foundation. Understanding of Biblical principles was also quite good with 75% of students mastering it.
