Abstract

Interracial conflicts usually occur due to unfavorable treatment from one racial group towards other racial groups. Freedom in democracy should not be understood as freedom that is as free as possible but freedom that is responsible. Qualitative research method with an analytical approach in looking at the problems in this paper. The results of this research are that religious leaders and Church denomination leaders should be able to build harmonious and synergistic working relationships with the government in helping to maintain the unity and harmony of religious communities. The emergence of awareness of Indonesia's pluralistic culture also colors the attitudes and behavior of each individual to respect each other's culture in the framework of realizing the motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in togetherness. There is no single culture that is more prominent and more important than other cultures in Indonesia. In fact, cultural diversity in Indonesia will complement one another. Indonesian culture will become increasingly recognized by other nations in the world. Freedom in democracy should not be understood as freedom that is as free as possible but freedom that is responsible. For this reason, religious leaders and leaders of church denominations should be able to build harmonious and synergistic working relationships with the government in helping to maintain the unity and harmony of religious communities.
