Evaluation Analysis of Vegetable Oils as an Environmentally Friendly Solution in Metal Heat Treatment

Implementing these high environmental standards not only provides tangible benefits for biodiversity protection and climate change mitigation but also builds trust and loyalty among a modern society increasingly concerned with sustainability. Thus, environmentally conscious businesses are able to build strong long-term competitiveness while actively contributing to preserving the earth's sustainability for future generations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the evaluation of vegetable oils as an environmentally friendly solution in metal heat treatment. The research approach used is descriptive research. This descriptive-based approach uses secondary data sources such as published journal articles and scientific books to support the analysis. The results of this study indicate that vegetable oils such as palm, soybean, and castor oils are among the most promising alternatives to mineral oils in metal heat treatment immersion processes. The use of vegetable oils as bio-qualifiers offers a balance between cooling efficiency and environmental safety, although they have certain thermal limitations that require proper additive management. The effect of vegetable oils on the microstructure and mechanical properties of metals is reflected in three main aspects are cooling rate, crack risk level, with high flash and fire points
